Skin brings us together and allows us to have a space. The skin lines the body, a fabric with no seams that can be patchy, elastic, dotted, and almost allows us to see what it carries inside.
A layer that covers. Skin that protects, skin that hosts, skin that is skin, how beautiful it is to be simply skin.
Our skin is our first home, our body, and what allows us to touch and feel our surroundings. We feel the wind, the rain, a shiver - all of this thanks to our skin. We are skin. I think that the skin is our most beautiful organ. It’s sincere, mirrors time and life in a simple way. There’s no skin the same as another, turning our bodies into unexplored maps and dioramas.
Feeling good about our skin means feeling good about who we are and telling ourselves that, so that we can protect what is ours and value the body we inhabit.
Smells and textures have the power of changing our moods. They can carry us to different places and moments in time. I feel like the most powerful way to travel is smelling something that reminds us of our childhood. Suddenly, you are five again, wearing a hat at the beach, sitting on the sand, eating a peach yogurt.
We should respect our bodies and follow our instinct in every situation. We have to take care of ourselves before we can be open to others. Looking inside is the best way to transpose to the outside. It is essential to know ourselves and what our strengths and weaknesses are so that we can use them in our favour and rediscover what makes us tick.
Here, I paused. I felt like time had time to express itself and to happen. I’m naturally energetic so stopping is important. It allows me to see things from afar, from a different angle. It gives me room to create and wander between words or notice how the trees dance around me.
